 Continuing our policy of promoting Athletics in  Mid-Sussex,  Haywards Heath Harriers are organizing several Open events in 2008, ranging from Track & Field to Off-road Ultra races.

We cordially invite you, the Athletes, even if you have not tried anything like this, to come along and “Have a Go”, whatever your level of performance, as without your participation the event will not be a success.

 

“PLUMPTON CLASSIC”

 7.5km & 2km JUNIOR RACE(U/16)

January   2009

Senior race @ 11a.m. Junior Race @10.00a.m.

Part of the West Sussex Fun Run League, this event is now recognised as a pipe opener  to the year, run on a unique course within the Racecourse boundaries and on local tracks

Please note that the maximum entry allowed for the senior race is 350

On the day entries will be closed at 10.15am or sooner if this number is reached

OPEN TRACK & FIELD MEETING

APRIL 24TH 2008

HELD AT CRAWLEY 'K2' STADIUM   Crawley 'K2' Stadium, Pease Pottage Hill Road, this popular evening meeting incorporates a number of Track and Field events for all age groups culminating in popular Mile races for Male and Female, Seniors and Veterans.

An enjoyable event for all abilities and age groups over a 1 mile lap  on a flat grass circuit.  Easy parking, showers, light refreshments

 “THE DOWNLAND RUNNING FESTIVAL”

Incorporating

THE “JACK & JILL” CHALLENGE 5 MILE

Sunday, 27th July 2008  @ 11.00a.m.

This well established 5 mile event, now in its 15th  year, offers a challenge to both the serious and the less committed athlete, with “breathtaking” views over the South Downs, a good prize list and a useful memento of the race for all finishers.

THE 30 MILE ULTRA DOWNLAND CHALLENGE.

Part of the 2008 Montrail Ultra- running Championship series

Sunday,  27th July 2008   @ 9a.m.

The13th  running of this unique ultra-distance event, using an  “out & home” course along the South Downs Way, is run in conjunction with The “Jack & Jill” event and offers all the same facilities at Clayton Playing Fields

We recommend you will have achieved the minimum of a 5hr, road marathon before taking on this event

A route description and details of water stations etc will be issued on receipt of entry

SUSSEX ROAD RACE GRAND PRIX

& WEST SUSSEX FUN RUN LEAGUE FIXTURES FOR 2008

 Dates are provisional and ONLY confirmed by the issue of entry forms

which can be found on www.sussexraces.co.uk or by entering on  the WSFRL notice board

 

The races listed below are all qualifying events for points within  

THE SUSSEX ROAD RACING GRAND PRIX

     To qualify for FULL points allocation it is required that the competitor completes eight races throughout the season,

two or more of which must be of ten miles or more in length.

Points gained by ALL RUNNERS entering as Haywards Heath Harriers are added to the club’s cumulative team total for the season as well as their own cumulative total. Up to date results lists showing both club and individual positions are published throughout the year and can be seen on the Road Race Notice Board  or the Grand Prix website.

FINAL RESULTS are published in December prior to the Prize Presentation in January.

THE 2008 CLUB ROAD RACE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

For the “BILL PAGE MEMORIAL” TROPHIES

This Club competition consists of three races the results of which are then age graded to give a points total to for a 10km, 10 mile, and ½ Marathon Men’s and Ladies Club Champions.

Each competitors three race results then being added together to give overall Men’s and Ladies Club Champions.

WEST SUSSEX FUN RUN LEAGUE 2008 

Club team points are gained for attendance and race position throughout the year with attendance bonus points for 25 club members competing in each event.

FREE ENTRY if club block booking system used (see WSFRL Notice-board)

TO DO WELL IN THE LEAGUE IT IS ESSENTIAL TO HAVE A MAXIMUM TURNOUT OF 25  FOR EVERY EVENT

EVERY member who trains with the endurance group is capable of running these low-key events

and should do their utmost to turn out and run and gain an attendance point.
