HHH Age Graded Road running Championship (Bill Page) final positions : Wins for Katie Morgan & Ben Gibson

(November 25, 2018)

The club’s annual competition to identify the best all round road runner (on an age-adjusted basis) has drawn to a close after the final possible scoring race – Crowborough 10k.    So after 17 events, beginning with the Eastbourne Half last march we have reviewed the results.  59 club members (22 ladies, 37 men) managed to put at least 1 scoring race in the series, but only 14 breached the scoreboard threshold of 3 races of which 1 being 10m or longer.

The Crowborough Race brought only a little change to the Leaderboard.

For the Ladies, Katie Morgan defended her leading position from New Zealand and Sam Ridley’s injury meant she wasn’t able to chase those vital seconds she would have needed.  I’m sure she will find an excuse to take the trophy over to NZ to present it personally to Katie  (and collect it a year later).   Naomi Cikalo stayed in 3rd position.

For the Men, Ben Gibson was obviously confident of his lead so ducked Crowborough and in spite of a great effort from Ben Duncan he did not close the gap and stayed second.  However, Darren Bird launched a furious last effort and displaced Jack Chivers from third spot with an excellent 38:19 time on the testing course.  Ian Dumbrell was a very close 5th.

Full series results here.

Look out for the Winners' (M & F) Trophy awards in the new year.  Also look out for some revised rules for this competition for the 2019 series.
