2014 Blackcap Handicap - Thursday, June 26th

(May 09, 2014)

Next month sees the return of the club's summer handicap race, run over approximately 5.5 miles of trail from Ditchling Beacon to the trig point at Blackcap and back. As in previous years, start times will be calculated on the basis of recent race performances, with slowest starting first. Runners of all speeds are welcome, and will, of course, have an equal chance of winning. Please let me know if you would like to run by emailing [email protected] and let me know your best and/or most recent 5k and 10k times.

The start is near the car park at Ditchling Beacon, on the east side of the road next to the South Downs Way. National Trust members can use the car park for free, otherwise you can get a ticket for £2. Please be there by 7pm; we will aim to have the first runner set off at about 7.15pm, ensuring everyone runs while it is still light, and that there is plenty of time to retire to the Bull in Ditchling afterwards for a pint or two.

Unfortunately the course is not suitable for under 16s.

It would also be great to have a couple of extra people to assist with timekeeping etc, so please let me know if you would like to help out.

Cheers

Marguerite
