Downslink Relay? Nov 28th

(October 19, 2015)

Caution:  If you have only run 7 of your 8 SGP races READ NO FURTHER!  You are needed at Crowborough on Sunday 29thNovember with fresh legs and a healthy body!

However, If you are not lining up for SGP success and want to try something different, then read on.  Burgess Hill Runners have for the last few years organised a kind of social relay within their club along the 6 legs of the Downslink footpath.  This year they have extended an invitation to HHH to bring a couple of teams along.

You can find some details on the BHR website http://www.bhrunners.co.uk/downslink-relay

Essentially there are four 6.5-7.5mile legs and then two 4.5mile legs.  Teams can be either 6 different runners or 3 runners trialling 2 non-consecutive legs.  Start will be from St Martha’s Hill from about 10:30am.  Teams are probably best organised as 2 cars of 3 with 2 drivers/car or a non-running supporter-driver.  Most of the Downslink is a disused railway line – if you’ve done the Henfield Half, 9mile or 7 stiles race – you’ll have been on some of it.

The ethos of the day is most definitely fun, and I gather there is a strong determination to meet for a beer at the end!!  Please see this as an enjoyable day out, an opportunity to chat with some like minded runners.  It may give some of you the opportunity to put a toe in the water regarding relays which may spark your interest in the South Downs Way Relay.  Also, and by way of advance warning, HHH are planning with BHR to put on another fun relay along the Ouse Valley Way next year – more to follow.
